I have a 1964 Li Special with TS1 225 etc.
My next bike will be a KTM Duke 690cc, only £5K for a 2,000 miles 2013 example and it will be such fun to ride!!!
68 BHP too, runs on unleaded petrol, can live with Ethanol etc.
Cheaper than it has cost to restore my scooter !!

Currently own 12 Scooters + 3 'Grown-ups' Bikes aswell...
'63 TV175 S3
'68 Spanish Li 150 Special
'63 Vespa GS160 Mk2
'64 Motovespa 150s - Quattrini 172 M1xl
'65 Motovespa 150s - Polini 221
'65 Vespa SS180
'72 Vespa GTR 125
'72 Vespa Rally 180
'74 Vespa 150 Sprint Veloce - Malossi 210
'74 Vespa Rally 200 Femsa
'80 Motovespa P200e 'DS'
'80 Vespa 50 Special
...I've loved owning them all - but the reality is that there's probably only four that get ridden with any degree of frequency & the rest are lucky if they get ridden at all between annual MOT's!
So - after having a bit of a reality check recently, I've decided that it's time to thin-out me collection/hoard - with the the aim being to get down to just 4 Scooters.... the TV175, the 2 Rally's & the Quattrini Motovespa being the keepers and everything else is going up 4 sale!

Make it 5 and keep that SS!
I sold it as I had to pay for a repair of two grand to the wife's diesel car when I put £25 worth of petrol in it & never realised, until she conked out & it destroyed some expensive parts.ArmandTanzarian wrote:Difficult isn't it. Hardly bother with the S2 but took a lot of sweat & swearing to build it so not too keen to get rid.

Living in Asia now scooters are cheap and plentiful. Like most people here I have had loads back in the UK and here over the years. However with work and family commitments I find I have less time to devote to a big collection of scooters so my collection has dwindled to just three hardcore bikes with a few "visitors" that come and go on a shorter term basis, I love to build scooters more than actually own them, so the shorter term scooters are things that I build for fun and then sell on to finance the main three.
1, 1988 Vespa PX/Sprint Veloce cutdown bitsa with a Malossi 221 lump. Had this scooter for 11 years now. This is a scooter that evolved out of a chopper that I kept on fiddling with, this has been rebuilt 6 times now and I am finally pretty happy with it.
2, My 73 Sprint Veloce with a PX Polini 177 lump. Had this for about 9 years now and is a full bodywork scooter that looks pretty standard at a quick glance. However the spare is under the panel and there is a rally glove box fitted. This is my daily rider.
3, The wife's fully restored all original 64 VNB 150 that has been in her family since new.

Do you guys with the large running collections have a tool kit in each scooter or do you have to transfer everything over when you go out?
Tools, oil, spare plugs and cables etc.

I'm down to my last one now- a 1962 TV175 S3, which I will keep to the end. Always liked this model which was always the preferred bike in the 1960's due to its smoothness and speed.
I started with another 1962 scooter in 1968, an LI150 S3 and ever since then I've had a bike in one form or another.
Over the years I reckon I've owned around 150 scooters - all Lambrettas and never a Vespa. When you were approaching your 16th birthday in those heady days, I think most people simply went for what was available- luckily I bought a Lambretta and stuck with the marque ever since. I've nothing against Vespas- there are some iconic 1960's models but my preference was and always will be Lambrettas (ask me that again when I'm lying on a cold damp garage floor trying to undo an exhaust nut flat by flat............... )
I suppose my largest collection was 6 or 7 bikes at its height but I found I was continually chasing my tail regards servicing; taxing; MOTing etc
Never had an SX200 or a GP200 but owned all large frame models and series apart from those two.
Would I do it again? Without question.
Chris
