My kid brother and I drove from Cambridge Lambretta to Sunderland in a Vauxhall Combo with two
Series 2s in the back.Had to push the passenger seat forward and I spent most of the journey
with my face on the dash but managed just.

The new Ford Transit Connect looks like a much bigger van at a glance, might be worth your while looking up the load space volumes.
VW also do quite a big "small van", Caddy maybe, that has a pretty long wheelbase and fairly high roof that at outward glace has the biggest loadspace in that sort of range.
