i had similar problems albeit with all levels of fuel.
Diagnosed it to a fuel tap in the end............had changed CDI, fuel pipe length and all sorts...........would run then die........leave it 10 secs and would kick again.........used to just go blleeeeeeurgh......... I think the breather tube on the tap was blocked / blocking and wasn't equalising the tank.........had changed cap too...........mine was a lot simpler than the things that you are doing.........check the simple things first like fuel cap, fuel tap and then start breaking it apart lol
Fuel starvation?

CDI swaps made no difference, the engine is out and I'm 90% thru getting my brothers spare T5 engine in, we'll find out if that runs tomorrow.

T5 engine runs ok but doesn't half clatter
Have a BGM tap on order as belt and braces, will get the malossi motor pulled down this week and see if I can find the problem with it.
