I was on a reasonably long ride over the weekend 186 miles, one way, Quite a bit was motorway riding. I sometimes went to 65 on the speedo but was scared to hold it open too long. How many miles can you leave the throttle full open, riding top speed on a standard P200 or Rally 200?

I've seized when the petrol runs down to reserve in that situation, as has a mate. Worth watching out for that.

So basically it's fine to hold the throttle fully open for say 30+ miles on a motorway up and down hills etc but be carefully of it going onto reserve.

Unless of course its not been set up quite right, in which case there'll be a loud bang and a failure to proceed just the same as a Lambretta.
Meus Lambretta est non infractus. Is est quietus.

I had a 210 Mallosi on a P200 engine with up jetted main jet and a sito plus exhaust. I appreciate that its a different barrel, ( nicasil lined ally barrel vs cast iron barrel) but both would have still seized if not set up correctly. Anyway, one year doing the 350 plus miles and most on the motorways, me a two other T5's would run at full throttle with no mishaps.

So as long as your engine is set up correctly, doing full chat should not be a problem.

Although the next year we did the same again, but this time I went on a monza kitted lambretta and one of the T5's seized whilst overtaking a camper van on the motorway. The reason for the seize was an air leak. I cant remember the exact location of the air leak, but in reality, his engine was not set up correctly because he had probably not maintained it correctly or checked the bolts were tight, but that's easy for me to be critical after the event!!

Yep agreed. Set up properly a P2 engine flat out all day long, up hill and down dale. No problem at all, bulletproof.
