Just ran a similar post on FB and it was very popular, so thought I'd add something here also, for anyone interested:

Scooter Dyno sessions.....
1) How Much Does a Dyno Session Cost?
2) What Happens When I Get There?
These are 2 questions we get asked a lot on the phone, here are the answers to both questions and more besides:

Why?
Lambretta and Vespa scooters are based on a 40+ year old design.....trying to get them to go fast, or expecting them to cover thousands of miles to and from rallies can be a difficult task for some people. Our dyno is engineered to analyse the performance, BHP, torque and revs of your scooter. Combine this with the gas analyser unit which reads your air/fuel mix, and we can examine how your engine is performing to make sure you have the correct power output for your engine spec, and correct air/fuel ratio settings on your carb.....to prevent either lean running and seizures, or rich running and lost performance.

Process......
When we book a customer in for a dyno tuning & diagnostic session, i try to have a chat with the customer on the phone first about what they are expecting, known problems with the scooter, what we can/cant do for them etc, so that there is at least a basic understanding of what will happen on the day. Upon arrival, we have a brew and chat in a bit more detail, we also have a job sheet that we request the scooter owner fills in, so that we have as much info as possible to start with.
After this we will get the scoot warmed up set it up on the dyno with the gas analyser plugged in etc and do 1 batch of runs, 1 batch actually consists of 3 runs. We usually do 1 run through gears 1st-4th just to clear the engine and asses gearing, then we do run 2 getting the throttle wide open as soon as i can in the rev range, and then run 3 feeding the throttle to roll on the power. We also repeat the batch runs holding in 4th gear once the engine is warm to gain as much info as possible, under as many condition simulations as possible (low revs/partial throttle, high revs full throttle, mid range roll-on, mid range wide open, throttle roll-off etc).

So we should now have at least 3 graphs to choose from and analyse, if there were any glitches, or misreadings we would repeat until we get some meaningful data that we can interpret and relay to the customer.
At this point, we make any adjustments which are needed, fit parts, tune and re-test on the dyno after each change in order to check progress. Once the final set-up has been achieved, we provide the customer with a final 'power run' so they have a record of the scooters BHP, Torque, and RPM power range. Job done.

Cost:
We now work on a flat-rate system, all dyno work is charged out at a flat-rate of £85 (plus parts). So no matter what is required, you can be certain that the invoice will not spiral out of control.
We carry a full range of spares for Spaco, Jetex, Mikuni and Dellorto carbs. Keihin can be accommodated on request. We do not work with OKO carbs.
