I am going to revisit my barn-job with a view to potential purchase. If it turns out to have the mystical S900 engine number I'd like to put a caliper across the studs to see if it is a 150 or a 200. Is there enough of a difference to be able to do this? Had a surf for this but if the info is out there it is not on the first 3 pages!

After the fact it should be easy as i can measure the bore and see the wall thickness but before...

You are looking for the 90 mm gasket face.

Right I will try and be more precise

Measured off a 150 block

From the centre of the stud holes 83mm across the face.

Width of the gasket face 85mm

If you get the case with the 90mm gasket face and the 150 stud spacing then this should have enough meat on the mouth to be converted to 200 spec. But I suspect you already knew that.

Hope this is more what you were looking for.

All the best

I just want to take a set of digital calipers with me so i can measure the stud spacing to know if it has 150 or 200 stud spacing. I can't use the engine number as it starts with an S for SIL and starts with 900 so no one seems to know if that is 150 or 200!.

So if I understand correctly 83mm is a 150 and 90 is a 200? Or rather 90 is a 200 and anything less isn't.

Got me confused here,i'm assuming he wants to know the PCD of the studs, what has the gasket face got to do with it ?
