I've just stripped the top end on my standard sil gp 200.
There is no piston shims and a little end bearing that is smaller than the gap in the piston gudgeon area.
I have no shims but have a wider bearing to replace.
Is this ok fitting wider bearing to take up gap or do I need shims ??

I'd fit a wider bearing and not bother with the shims

Is the crank shimmed?
If it, is then you don't need piston shims.
If it's not then you really should have shims to centralise the piston.
