
GT big block experiance : New GT crank info added
some footage still not quite run in but riding in really s**t weather. heavy head wind, met office says that in that area the wind yesterday was mean 28mph gusting to 55mph. it wasn't nice at all.

,, shows the A45, a bit by J9 M42 and a bit on the A38. its long but after watching it ive decided that im not going to put a longer box in it because it just about right, it needs to be able to ride in s**t weather in top gear and if I make it longer it wont!
Im happy with how it pulled, or rather that it did manage to pull 4th in that wind. Not the best conditions to be putting the engine through as its all new, its still set up rich which you can hear later in the video as I pull away from an island.

ye the water got in to the RTSE1000, the way I have it mounted allows water to run down the cable from the back of the unit and in the wind it blows water over the terminals. ..... something I need to sort out. It all works again now its not underwater lol.
the gearing is 4.7 final drive, that road has cameras all the way along it and limit of 60mph so im pulling around between 5600-5800rpm. which into a mean wind speed of 28mph is pleasing.

the tacho is also a bit harder to read because I have my main beam on and with the main beam on the display dims for night time use.

Installing the GT now in my Jet 200. I had a stage 4 tune, BGM Clubman, foam air filter, and 28 MM Dellorto with the following settings:
idle jet: 55
choke = 60
main jet = 120
atomizer=av264
needle x7 with clip in bottom slot
slide 50
3mm float needle
Thoughts on how these settings would change? Anyone running a similar set up and happy with what they have?

You'll need to come up on the main and atomiser size. Jetting details are in the manual on the website. For a start position you'll need to be around the PHBH30 settings which are 135-140 main and AV266-268 atomiser

good thing though is the motor was running close to perfect. i just wish i hadn't compromised when building it as i only used the head gasket to get the squish i was after, I could have got more taken out of the head squish or used a extra 0.2 base gasket but i didn't have one so i opted for the head gasket while i ran it in.
My thoughts were not to take any out of the head at that point in case I wanted to increase port timings by adding another packer to the base depending how it ran. as it happens it has ran great so I had forgot all about the head gasket and just kept ridding it lol.
Now its apart I'm going to have the recess in the head deepened so I can get rid of the gasket and keep timings as they are and while its apart i'll put the two new rings on that came with the piston as I built it using just 1 old used ring, no point using new rings to take the peaks out of the bore, may as well use an old ring. It might go a bit better with 2 rings too lol.
it was a sudden failure. bonkers, as the temps were all good and no warning signs what so ever when it went.



was running nice, this is a great plug chop as we had been doing between 65-75 for a few miles, plug colour is probably a touch lighter than it was actually running as it would have changed a touch when I was rolling with the clutch out after listening to the noise trying to work out wtf had happened lol.
