Scootrs tubeless rims and Conti-twists

Bought the above parts x3 to convert my GP to tubless. Local bike store bent 1 rim and destroyed 1 tyre before giving up . Local tyre fitter can't do it either. I have the MB wheel holder thingy and have tried pre heating the tyre. Any one else had problems with this combo?

I had that at a local scoot shop that deals and services mainly autos the owner then showed me a 10 Inch auto rim and was able to put the tyres on almost all the way by hand!!

Cheers for the replies. Looks like it's scrap value for the rims then. Think I'll stick to tubes.

We (local club) have tried all of the bike, car, tyre, caravan, type places around Oxford and have only found a couple of places that could do it. The issue is that people 'think' they can do it as they've done hundreds of others without issue, then promptly bend the lip over on the ScootRS rims with a tyre lever, destroying the rim in the process!!!!!!! This trial and error has cost us a number of sets of Lambretta and Vespa rims. I've had 2 destroyed by fitters who said, "No problem, I can fit these without even marking the rim.", only to destroy the rim and say, "Oops, obviously not fit for purpose." They are fit for purpose, actually very good IMO, but tyre fitting is a constant problem and I cut tyres off myself when it comes time for new.

It is an absolute MUST that tyres are fitted by a competent fitter that is using a tyre fitting machine/turn table of the correct wheel diameter, which themselves are few and far between. Unfortunately, we've still had a number of rims fitted by one place, which has now said "No more!", and the other place has just closed down

Some tyres are harder to fit than others, with Contis being one of the most difficult.

Good luck finding a place with both competent fitter AND correct diameter fitting machine... you MUST have both! Having just one of these is almost guaranteed to destroy your rim.

but on a serious note , i was a early convert to scootRS rims a good few years go until i had a rim split whilst en-route to I.O.W ,luckily at slow speed , SIP rims couldn`t come quick enough for me , and easier to fit tyres to also
