Disc brake conversion

Thinking of upgrading the front brake on my 62 Li150 with a hydraulic set up. Are they difficult to fit? They seem pretty straightforward. I have been looking at the ScootRS ones. What difference would the anti dive make. I have shocks fitted to the forks so would I still need the anti dive type. Anybody any experience with ScootRS, Are their products any good, anybody fitted their kits? What is the import duty cost for a £200 item, is it 20% on top? Thanks for any help.

There stuff is nearly always spot on the disc brake is excellent
If your worried about inport duty buyfrom a uk dealer
justlambretta is a good place and the owner post on here as corrado

I've had 3 ScootRS disc brakes. They are very good but don't expect it to fit without a few minor adjustments. I'd use a thinner braided house too. You'll be able to route it in a more discrete way than the one or comes with.

fitted three so far.. easy enough, bleeding is a knack, got a large syringe now... easy peasy... if you buy from martin (corrado) he will sell you a decent hose as the one supplied is shite, also look to get quality banjo bolts and copper washers cos the originals are made from stork margarine..

apart from that.. superb, anti-dive?? some love it, some don't bother.. I love it as it transforms the ride and none of that dipping when you stick the front brake on

Thanks all, Had a look on the just Lambretta site but they have none in stock at the moment, No rush though, not like it is unrideable as it is.

You should be able to stop a 1962 Li 150 simply by coughing at the appropriate moment (lifting the visor if you bother with one?)

A correctly adjusted original drum brake should be plenty, reverse-pull set-up if you really need more ;)

I've been using a very well built/ set up drum brake on my TS, now RB powered GP for the last 4 years. most who test ride don't believe it's a drum until I tell them to go and physically look. On more than a few rides around Dartmoor those following comment how the rear end will leave the ground under VERY heavy braking. If grabbing a massive handful (trying to catch up a group on the twisties and rounding a corner to be faced with the back end of a Range Rover) it will lock the front end. [Then suspension spec comes into play]. Great fun to ride. unless doing off-road riding, a drum brake should be able to match a disc (on a Lambretta).
This was set up to prove there is no excuse/ reason to move over to a disc/ hydraulic set up. I accept that the labour time to get a drum brake set up really good takes time, and if not doing it yourself, costs. Those costs are not worthwhile if you can buy a ScootRS disc set up. (Or similar).
I will be fitting the (B-Race) hydraulic disc set up from my SX for my next years adventures, but more from a fashion point of view rather than braking effort. That and I want the drum set up elsewhere, destined for my Series one frame gulper.

I've got the ScooRS external hydraulic on mine and it works very well. The only complaint I had was it felt to "sharp" as it was so powerful that the front would dive with little provocation (BGM dampers fitted on the front end). Fitted the antidive kit and transformed it, just as powerful but so much nicer to ride! So it's a big thumbs up for the antidive version from me.

Had a couple of these and just fitted another to a mates scooter last week, think I bought the last one from Corrado at Just Lambretta :-)
He's very pleased with it.

Anti dive?, never needed one, I've never over bled the brake to the point where you touch it and it stops. I bleed them until you start to feel teh full brake on at just over half a pull of the lever, that's it. That gives a nice progressive feel. After that its a simple matter of not slamming on the brake like an anchor, simple.

I do agree with what some say re a well set up front brake, but they are few and far between frankly.
