there are rumors, -well quite for some time now, that the production for complete engines and now also casings will end now. sil has stopped production of complete engines and will only produce casings but on a much higher price-level. its not shure that af rayspeed / sr / etc..
can order so many units that sil will produce casings also in the foreseeable future.

has someone got more infos ? would be intersting, if this is a sales campaign from some dealers or theres is now some truth in it...

True as far as I know.
Paul from SR told Broady that SIL are basically making nothing at all at the moment and they have nothing much left in their stores to sell to anyone.

.... Some swiss consultant has striked back.... Someone who knows nothing about the scooter industry and just does numbers all day decided that full scooter production was not good for SIL´s economy in 1997. Now probably the same enlightened person (or one like the previous one) has made the same suggestion with full engines.
In a year's time, even beyond repair engines will be worth an arm and a leg.

P.S. I got a beyond repair Jet200 casing for sale if someone is interested .....

I'll bet there are some back street dealers in Mumbai or similar with large stocks creating the rumours to jack up the prices. :?: :?: :?: :?: :?:

It had to happen eventually. The last SIL lambretta was made a very long time ago and the engine isn't the same as those in their trikes (which must also be getting to the end of their life by now)

I think SIL are threatening to stop production but as of yet have not. I haven't seen prices jump dramatically from them. Other Indian dealers are all saying the same thing - threats but as of yet no supply problems and no big price increases. I don't know what to believe. Guess I'll wait until it happens or not and then move on. Plenty of parts being remade or in production in the West to not really worry about it - someone will pick up the slack....if it ever happens.

I reckon you're all being sucked into a market ploy to raise prices. I've recently seen a dealer advertising casings at almost £180.00 without mounts. I paid £80.00 for my last case and I've cleaned it up and deburred it. Anyone want it at the "bargain price" ot £175 with bushes correctly installed

PS please don't make any offers, it's not for sale really.

If SIL really haven't stopped production it's a bit naughty of SR to be suggesting the opposite :? I just paid out nearly £150 for a bare casing without mounts. That's not because I needed one, but purely because I was thinking of building a large block motor at some point in the future and was worried the supply was about to dry up. The prices seem to be shooting up (the strength of the pound doesn't help though)

Over the last two years the cost price for 200 casings has doubled.
