What should be the diameter of the centre hole in the laminates of Ducati GP points stator plate?
Cheers!

Are you having problems fitting the flywheel?
As the laminates of all ducati six pole stators are the same (Lambretta and Vespa, points or electronic), why do you suspect that the one fitted to a electronic stator differs from all the others? I have swapped many a stator core from backplate to backplate and everything has always lined-up perfectly, though the total thickness of the combined laminates can vary..
Someone correct me if I am wrong.

there was a modification to the later die cast flywheels, by way of the diameter of the hub being increased from 27 to 28mm- the later "bigger" flywheels were stamped 31-56-4 somewhere on the rim.
If this later F/W is being fitted to an earlier stator, then the inside diam. of the stator need increasing to 29mm.
Page B2 section B3 last para of the Lambretta Home Workshop Manual 1979 version.
Don't know if this is the posters problem but may be of assistance.

That's what I had in mind although actually I have not yet encountered a problem. I have been running an Li crank on points but am replacing with a GP crank and 31-56-4 GP points flywheel that I have in the garage. (I quite like the points set up on a standardish engine with old school 12v conversion).bristolmod wrote:there was a modification to the later die cast flywheels, by way of the diameter of the hub being increased from 27 to 28mm- the later "bigger" flywheels were stamped 31-56-4 somewhere on the rim.

The diameter of the centre hole of the Ducati points stators that I have vary between approx 27.5mm and 28.6mm. I also have a Ducati electronic stator with a centre hole of 27.5mm which I think may have been fitted to a GP some time ago.
Another contributor has kindly suggested that the diameter may not be critical as the GP boss does not run in the centre hole as it is further out on the taper.
