TS1 Which Clutch

I am having trouble with clutch drag on a Rocho clutch and I have tried countless times to cure it, so much so I've now thrown in the towel.
It may be me who cannot set the Rocho clutch correctly, and Im not knocking the clutch in any way. its just that I want to ride it not tinker with it trying to set it up.
So having decided enough is enough, I am looking at the AF Rayspeed cassette road clutch as a replacement.
Due to arthritis in my left hand slowly getting worse, I need a light pull on the clutch lever. Can anyone recommend a light trouble free (ish) clutch at decent money for a standard TS1 225.

I would recommend the conversion of the clutch lever at the handlebar to RD350. MBD sell these (though i converted my own), and they have a better reach (dogleg), a longer lever and a better pull (the distance from the pivot to cable-end is slightly longer.

Consider this alongside your clutch choice, though the ease of pulling in a clutch is always dictated by the strength of the springs.

Hi Martin Sorry I forgot to mention I have allready got the lever from mb. Also using mb springs and mb clutch cable.
Thats why ive thrown in the towel and am now considering the AF road clutch. but before shelling out more money I would like people's opinions regarding drag, slip, or other issues which I may come across if I buy the AF unit.

There's some had issues with the AF cast road version which required fettle get. If I recall correctly this involved filing down the posts so they were all the same height.

use a reedspeed 5 plate, if you use the springs that come with them the clutch is easy to pull and its more than capable of living with a standard ts225.

one of the guys in our club who won joint 1st in the lcgb bsm used a reedspeed 5 plate last year in his ts 225, it lasted all year with no problems at all.

+1 for the Reedspeed plates in a standard or deepened crownwheel. Fitted a few now and been no trouble. I've found the Rocho clutch steels cup which then causes drag so gonna get some new steels made. They work even better in hi power motors with EBC heavy duty plates.

I've got an AF race with MB Yam lever and nylon cable in my RB250 and I can pull it in on one finger. It works a treat with no slip or drag. I've also got the Readspeed 5 plate in a 21bhp Imola motor. Again with a Yam lever and correctly routed MB clutch cable its a very light clutch that works very well.

I've had some fun with Rocho clutches and still am to be fair, I did manage to sort one out in the end with a bit of fettling!! Have a look at all parts and see if there's any witness marks it may help you resolve the issue. Also ended up changing springs to some ive used for many years to get a perfect clutch. The AF one's generally need to be checked but I find them heavy on hand and very on/off. Best I've found is std 4 plate with good springs using Mec crown wheel with winco top plate

Based on comments & cost I think I will give the Readspeed 5 plate clutch a go.

Anyone interested in a Rocho 6 plate clutch that may or may not work ? It could be me not setting correctly.

+1 on the Readspeed 5 plate. I fitted one of their sprockets, standard spider and pressure plate and MB springs in a tuned reedvalve rapido 225.... All over the country last year, nice and light, no drag or slip... Perfecto!!
