I'd been trying to persuade myself that the big end bearing was probably fine. But, I've failed to convince myself and so I've bitten the bullet and taken the crank in for a new conrod, shims and big end bearing to be fitted. Incidentally, Baz, yes you are right. The pin is the same size as on a P range crank.

I its a never ending circle of spending money lol. Are you going to tweak the top end at all ?storkfoot wrote:It's a typical engine build. You open up an engine to replace a few springs then you keep reaching for the credit card time and time again

No, de coke and new rings. I love the feel of the Rally in that it produces reasonable power but is so unstressed. I wouldn't want to lose that. I may even put the original exhaust back on rather than the Sito Plus I have been running.

Go SIP road - better than sito plus - improved performance with original looks and a slightly meatier standard sound.
Early indications on my change to SIP road are good but not done any hard motorway work to compare against the SIP performer i had been using.

+1 ^... got the Sip 2 pipe on my Rally - initially upped the main jet to 122, but have since dropped down to 120 main - which now seems spot-on... this along with the stiffer front spring & bgm pro damper are the best upgrades you can make to a standard Rally 200gaz_powell wrote:Go SIP road - better than sito plus - improved performance with original looks and a slightly meatier standard sound.

Definitely made a big improvement to mine over the standard spring & damper...
Rally front ends are notorious for diving badly under braking & on the standard set-up mine was terrible... plus the front end would bottom out really easily just under normal riding conditions.
Fitting a 33% stiffer front spring & BGM Pro damper has made a massive improvement over how it was... front end travel is now much more controlled when braking, giving better front brake performance - plus I've never had it bottom out yet since doing the conversion - just better all round ride & handling...
