Hi what are most of u getting from under the spark plug I'm getting after a blast and leaving to tickover for 10 mins of around 70-80 c

I am a little wary of these readings, or more to the point, asking for comparison of readings. 70*C is a figure that is far too low, but is this the true temperature of this head? If 70*C reflected the true temperature of the head, you wouldn't need a fan to cool the barrel and head.
The diffrent cht sensors and cht guages cannot be directly comparable as they are unlikely to have been fully callibrated. Perhaps we would all be better setting-up the engine so it runs well, and then fitting the cht to monitor any changes in temperature, especially dramatic increases which might be indicative of imminent component or lubrication failure.

hi mate yes it is fitted under the spark plug was just intrested to see what others were reading i have tested it in boiling water and was spot on it also reads correct outside temp before starting
Going fot a blast and then leaving to tick over will give a low reading. Your engine wont get upto running temp in less than 7 miles. Even then if you did 20 miles then let it tickover for 10 mins the reading would be between 70-90.

i c intresting the reason im asking is we all use these cht gauges to moniter at speed any sudden and dramatic changes to warn us of a fault and i was just thinking if u had a higher reading at tickover it could mean a split rubber or somthing so the norm on tickover would be around 70-90 when taken from under the plug at tickover

Tickover around 100 deg. Normal riding - anything between 200 and 220 deg. Saw about 240 once, when the flywheel fell to pieces.
This is on a coop though, not a lambretta.
