Great news but as others have said, it makes it even more likely that the thief is not only a fellow scooterist but one that lives relatively local.
Meus Lambretta est non infractus. Is est quietus.
Thanks again to everyone for the support!
I will not give up. Even after the insurance has paid out, i will never give up.
If this has been stolen to order, someone suddenly turning up with a super monza engine is going to show up like a sore thumb.
If its been stolen for parts, well all the expensive stuff will not fit another lambretta without serious mods and the shops that do these mods know what to look out for.
So in short .....if you have this engine you are not going to earn from it. If you have it, give it back and we will stop looking for it.......its your best chance of getting out of this.
Please copy this post and post and share on facebook as i am not on facebook myself.
Again, thanks for the tremendous support everyone! It means so much to me and has made me realise that we are still a community.....whichever way you swing politically, what social opinions you may have we all still have one thing we care about more than any and what gives us something in common.......our love of scooters. In this we are united.
Thanks everyone.
Pete

nice one Pete- I really hope it turns up in due course and the miscreant is given a strict "talking to".
Of course I'm not in any way suggesting that anything else should happen.
Must admit being a strict Innocenti purist (with the exception of the 1960's tuning guide!), I wouldn't know this type of engine if I fell over one (bit like virgins in parts of Bristol
)- any chance of a pic or some points for the uninitiated just in case?
Chris

Scootering since 1968.
Hi Chris
Pics are difficult simply because it was engine and unfortunately no pics were taken of that......however....some points are that the exhaust is considerably fatter than most of the other expansion exhausts out there. There are lots and lots of individual sections welded to make the whole pipe up and they are all hand made.
I Have tried to post a generic pic at the top of this post.
The carb sits on the same side as a TS1 or RB but if you look deeper at the reed valve it is a much bigger reed valve box than them. The exhaust is by far the more recognisable feature.
When I bought the exhaust and got it home my mate said it looked like a boa constrictor that had swallowed a f@@king great big cat.

lots of pics come up on google with a pic search for super monza engine
Hi and thanks for your concern.
Engine is still missing. Lots of people still looking out for it. Good luck to the thieves trying to get new parts for it in the future
My insurance has paid out and what's left of the scoot is fully stripped and going to have new engine and complete respray (couldn't ride it again as it was as i would just be reminded that some dirty thieving tw@7 had his hands on it).
I am still looking and so are many people. The truth will come out and when it does.................
Thanks to everyone for keeping your eyes peeled.

Legally no but I'd certainly be happy to see that happen if someone broke into my house and stole what I've worked hard for,the legal punishment isn't hard enough. Glad part of it has turned up anyway.Trojan wrote:We cant do things like putting peoples hands in vices, we re decent law abiding scooterists
