........is it as simple as painting the back white/cream.....?

If the black lettering is solid and undamaged.? Carefully clean off the remaining white paint (dont bother to remove the white that is in the lettering) Then spray it over with fresh paint. Probably best to buy an aerosol suitable for plastic.

Tim, seem to remember there was a guy on one of the forums who refurbished them a while back. You might have to do a search.
