From what I understood MEC never made cranks when they were in business, I'm lead to believe that possibly Tameni actually manufactured them for MEC who just branded them.

Try some crank builders, like Harry Barlow at Pro-porting, he'll build you what you want.

That is what I understand too. Tameni made cranks: Branded MEC and then Ricambi Rapido after MEC's demise. Do not overlook the JB Tuning '[Super Corsa'[ or getting John + Crew to up-rate your old webs: Top notch trued and tigged re-build from them on my (non standard) GT200's crank. 100% reccomended. You get what you pay for at the end of the day ;)

Cheers all, gives me a lot to think about, that crank on the af site looks like it could be one tameni made but seems the mec ones with problems are the ones with the bronze rods, that one looks like the silver / grey rod so maybe not affected?

Ricambio on a box may just mean what it says. Ricambio is Italian for spares.

There is/was a brand using that name, but mainly car bits AFAIK.

Yes true, but they have been around for many years and certainly were one of the better lambretta spares manufacturers / providers.

just to let you know, after trying to find a 60x115 crank (i know probably not what you are looking for), no one had one, AF could build me one for about 230; spoke to harry barlow and he's now building me one with welded pin for 210 posted, ready by monday. although more than i wanted to spend, its being built by one of the best names out there, checked for everything before being sent out.
Something to consider anyway, not sure what webs he will use but the 115 rod must be jap.
hope this is of some use to you!
(whilst on the phone he also gave me loads of porting advice which is great)

Anything longer than 110 rods will require special packing plates and may give you fitting problems with exhausts and cowlings.
Anything with a 110 rod might be out of budget.
I would recommend an AF crank with 107 rod in either 58 or 60mm stroke.
