Ok my GP is being sprayed at the moment. It was a crash damaged AF that I swapped with a clubmate for my Jet so the headset was bolloxed.
I've bought another headset from scooter Restos but to be honest its going to need a lot of time fettling which I haven't really got.
Upstairs in my wkshop(the loft of shite) I've got a mint spanish sx headset.
So now to the question- anybody used one on a GP before and what were the pros and cons? I know it lowers the bars but is this to the detriment of the ride? I suppose I'm of average hieght abou 5' 10"ish
Opinions on the sx/GP combo looks wise appreciated as well.
As another option if anyone has a complete indian gp headset with rim that all fits together nicely for sale let me know. Cheers
Headset-Whadaya think
Hi ya al.
A lot of the race bikes are like this.. the look good to me mate.
A well known racer( ) with his sx handlebars on top of gp bodywork

SX headset will actually improve your handling in that the handlebars are slightly lower than GP.... has the effect of putting some more weight on the front, which will help your handling when riding 'with spirit!'
.... with the added benefit of attracting ladies in leather!

I think I'm going to try it anyway Paul and I believe your right about handling but the only reason I'm building it is for rallying 2 up with the missus so I'm a bit worried about long distance discomfort(more than normal)paulmgreen wrote:SX headset will actually improve your handling in that the handlebars are slightly lower than GP.... has the effect of putting some more weight on the front, which will help your handling when riding 'with spirit!'

Its a tad uncomfatable on my cutdown Vespa with just a snett!
Wheelie who has recently registered on this site has done the SX headset / GP frame conversion a few times if I remember correctly. He may have some photos for you, one at least was in Scootering (again IIRC).

I (personally) think it's a good look - better than standard GP.
As been said, lowers the bars a tad..............
