Cheapskate!
I once (c.a. 1990) broke down in the Aosta valley on my TV210 with what felt like an ignition misfire and with little knowledge and few tools I found the local Vespa shop to try to get help or to buy a fix. The Vespa place didn't want to know but the mechanics at the car place opposite said that they would help if I could wait until closing time..... well I wasn't going to get far anyway!!!
After the guys clocked off, about 4 or 5 of them decided to see if they could figure out what the issue with, starting at first principles. Before I knew it, one of the guys held his hand over the tailpipe and then went into the workshop, coming back with a punch and big hammer... the result was much the same as shown in your photo. The bike then ran perfectly and the guys were chuffed to have sorted it so easily... and so was I! The guys would take anything from me and wished me a good adventure.
OK, the fix seems pretty obvious now but the bike had run so well until then that it didn't seem that it could go from perfect to blocked in a single ride... even if a long one.
