Fit a decent electronic kit. Version 2 onwards Mugello 186's are pretty revvy. If you try running them on points at high revs, the points will bounce all over the place.

I have been running my Mk1 mugello for well over 5,000 miles now, I fitted a race crank, an ebay indian electronic kit, an Li 150 box, an uprated 5 plate clutch and springs and a 16 toothe sprocket. I kept the original Li 125 special chain but swopped the upper chain guide for a nylon type.
40 miles after putting it on the road the clutch retaining spring came out and buggered up the clutch plates so I put the original clutch plates and springs back in expecting to have clutch slip problems but they were fine I finally changed the plates a couple of hundred miles ago purely because I had to strip it down to do the rear wheel bearing, they were still fine

Sounds like pretty much everything apart from the gearbox needs changeing then

Slow is the new fast!
Have done over 5000 km on my 225 without major repair..
running a TV/SX gearbox and 30 mm PHBH
Have tried with JL1, PM25 & Taffspeed MK4 exhust and I must say thats the kit with Taffy is the s**t if you want something fast road going two up or lots of packing..
Latest I did the euro lambretta going from Sweden.. 440 km in Danmark full throttle all the way (except for filling the gas)No probs to pass all the trucks and hard wind!
