Recently had my scoot dyno'd and it has been running very nicely. Not been out for a couple of nights and tonight she seems to be running a bit boggy particularly when I open the throttle fully. Could the change be due to the weather getting cold?

Short and sweet - many thanksDaggs wrote:Yes.

Any suggestions as to what I can do to get it running better or should I just leave it?

Colder air should not make an engine run richer (boggy) in the winter. The opposite is more likely. Cold air is more dense than hot air and the engine should run leaner. I think your problem may lie elsewhere.
However, damp air does reduce the oxygen 'inhaled':- subject to humidity level it is reduced according to the ammount of H2O in the atmosphere (typically prevelant in low atmospheric pressure conditions = low pressure area on the forcast. It does affect tuned piston ported set-ups where the setting of the carb is more sensitive to this phenomenon. Leave as is I suggest. Take it out on a high air pressure, cold and dry day: should perform even better than on the dyno....... If still 'boggy' then lean of the jetting in increments

A stab in the dark, but could be a dust-laden air filter suddenly getting clagged up by the moisture in the air, making the carb run rich? May be worth a check...
A hydroscopic air filter? Not the filter, more the burden of dust in it. I had an MZ 2T once that had a clagged-up filter and displayed similar symptoms when wet. Unlikely to be the case here, as the bike has been dyno'ed, but defying logic is what these bikes excel at...Yanker wrote:A hydroscopic air filter? I'm actually thinking it might just be a power issue, not jetting, been out again and it just feels like its losing power at full throttle. I have a feeling I might have too many toys on it for the power it produces. For example, I have just fitted a SIP electronic speedo, the bike already had a EGT gauge that is back lit, I have had one of those 'mod' chargers on it for ages (but not actually charging anything, but still connected). So, maybe, just maybe I am using too much power. I have also just read on here that I need to change the spark plug to one that suits the SIP speedo, a resistor type plug. All of this combined may well be why I'm losing power top end???
