Rich, I've been following this thread for ages and like others have watched Eden 's vids thinking that his scoot is just what I'd like from a rally going motor. This thread has undoubtedly brought much good press to the GT kit(and so it should),but I also think that many buyers would be purchasing hoping to get what they see in Edens vids,I think if you could offer a package based on the build for that motor that will deliver the performance of that engine then you wont be able to make it quick enough to keep up with sales.I fully except the difficulties that you have put forward in your previous post as regards commercial viability etc and I am sure that you have studied the market for the type of product you offer(i.e a fast reliable rally going engine)and see that there are some serious costs attached to other engine packages out there. Is this something you might consider after doing the figures? I'm sure lots of people would love to have one.

cheers Jeff

I too, have been following Eden's posts (& associated video's) with great interest. Primarily just for entertainment allied to an inteest in the gamma technology speedo/rev counter unit - which I've now bought.
I'm hugely impressed with the apparent breadth of performance, wide rev range of meaningful thrust, 3rd gear overtaking ability, & capability of running tall gearing meaning high sustained speeds.
I don't know Rich T so have no vested interest in promotion thereof - but he deserves great credit on producing such an impressive (and it appears reliable) setup. My bike is an S type and for originality I've stuck with AF & run 225 rapido - - I know very little other than snippets from this thread but.. where a change necessary I'd be sorely tempted to investigate this kit

I'm running the GT kit in my S-type with the 30mm carb and a BGM clubman, Li150 gearbox 17/46 (4.6 overall ratio). Regularly take it up to 70-75 mph on the motorways and it is also more than happy pottering around town. Can't recommend it highly enough, great kit :D

your motor wont be slow though Toddy, ive tickled the ports a touch ;)

over the winter im building a 250 using a GT barrel, Im building this one out of all good components rather than s**t I found behind the cupboards in the garage.
Engine case.... sorted
new crank...... sorted
barrel... sorted I think ;) just need to do the tune when I get my hands on it.
piston... sorted
chaincase components... sorted
ignition....sorted
Just need bearings, seals, pipe, carb and the odd other parts.

currently i'm thinking i'll leave the GT230 as it is, I may not even do a winter rebuild on it.

If I split the machining processes it would double all the set up costs and lose the economies of scale on ALL kits provided. This means not just an expensive option for 225 (that would be a very expensive Wossner piston too) but also the 200 kit. It effectively knobbles the commercials on both kits, this is why it will not be done.

You can absolutely have a kit just like Eden's. To get one please contact Eden, send your casing and he'll build you one, simples. If Eden buys 100 kits each year then I'd look at it again (as that would make it a market reality) but, as I mentioned earlier this is a perception, it is not a proven reality. In fact, the reality is currently the opposite as I mentioned before.

The GT200 kit is the reliable base starting point but it has all the features and potential for exploitation (the Scootering article covers it all very well) so you have the opportunity of straight "bolt on" or tweak the performance either yourself or via a tuner. What I do help with is sharing the information and providing some manufactured parts to ease the process where possible. If you want a customised 225 then it needs to go to the cast iron specialists like Eden, Chris Sturgis, Darrell Taylor etc. There are quite a few more dealers selling GT kits these days so ask about too.

That was Monday to Friday evenings last week. Tonight ive fitted the clutch, put all the studs in the case and fitted the brakes.

Could have finished it tonight but I need an 8mm case stud and gearbox oil.

Bore and head profiling was done by Ralph, I've done the rest.

Cant wait to get it running :)
