On they way to work this morning hit reserve so stopped within 1/2 mile and filled to the top..now to my suprise it only took 5 litres is this correct?..I know they hold 8 litres (standard tank by the way) but I wouldnt have thought reserve was 3 litres..brand new fast flow tap as well...normal or not ?...

Don't know about the whole capacity of the tank but fast-flow fuel taps have much bigger reserve than original taps. I think that the 5 litres is normal with that.

yeah, I'd go with that.
all the new fast flow taps I have seen have a much longer reserve tube than stock.

Anorak that I seem to be, I've actually measured the amount of fuel remaining in 3 standard tanks fitted with a 'fast flow fuel tap' and obtained the following average of between 2.5 and 3 litres of fuel remaining in the tank which gave me the confidence to continue riding to the next petrol station without fear of running out of fuel.
It also means that you can safely put two jugs of oil in BEFORE the 5 litres of fuel to ensure a good mix of fuel/oil.

Rog60, we'd be lost if it weren't for the anoraks! But I understand Lam46 concerns. The 1st time I fitted a fast flow I thought I still had about 20+ miles to go in tank when it went onto reserve. Thought fuel economy on this new set up was disastrous but then found out the good news when I went to fill up and it only took 5 ltrs. :D

funnily enough, went onto reserve this morning while dialling a carb in on "the mile"...... tescos petrol at one end , JET garage at the other......... fast flow tap, standard tank...... 6.75 litres, after putting the oil in. funnily enough(again)....... i went onto reserve, at the same place, different scooter, last week........... i had a quick glance up in the air in case "THEY" were looking for me............ or i might be just tight , and should buy some more petrol........... ;)
