Ive just acquired a Watsonian Bambini sidecar that will be going on my S2 this winter, can anyone advise what gearing I should be looking at in order to get thing away from the lights without holding traffic up too much?

The scooter currently runs a Muggy 186, 26mm delly with remote filter, Ancilotti clubman and GP150 gearbox

Li125 gearing used to be the one for sidecar work, not sure whether it would be too low overall for a Mugello kit but nice low 1st gear to get it off the line.

I fitted a sidecar earlier this year and fitted the often recommended Li125 gearing at the same time. Too undergeared in my experience (GT186, MB clubman), I'll be upping the gearing over the winter, cruising at 50 and topping out 55ish (GPS) did my nut in. Haven't decided what I'll go too yet but am very tempted to try the SX200 gearing I had as a solo as cruising at 60 was easy enough.

Cheers for that, I have an SX200 gearbox in the garage so could go with that easily enough. Doesn't need to be too quick as doing this one for days out with the wife and the little'un

If you're 2 up and with someone in the sidecar and just want to potter about then li125 will do that. I wanted to be able to go to a rally and keep up with the others in my club. As it turns out I could do but would be less frenetic with higher gearing.

Obviously if I could use it as a rally going scooter as well then that would be a bonus and I could fit a lot of gear & beer in the sidecar instead of trying to fit everything on a sprint rack on my GT200 lol

The guy you need to talk to is Steve Last who is a member of the Felixstowe Coasters. You should be able to find him on facebook. He has been running a Series 2 with a Watsonian fitted for a few years now, it was on the Desert rats run a couple of years ago. He lives in Sudbury these days and is a very helpful, knowledgeable guy but doesn't come on this or the LCGB sites  You could probably also contact him through The Coasters facebook page.

Cheers Colin, I will look out for him at this year's Desert Rat memorial ride and see if I can find him on FB

I built up a Jet200 sidecar rig with a metal Cozy sidecar. I used Li150 gearing, and it pulled great through all the gears.
