Can't really coment on the mudguard issue, but you have an issue with your steering stops on the forks. Ride height and wheel alignment.

Fitting Vespa Forks?
The steering stops seem to work ok and I understand the ride height will be an inch higher but what issues will I have with wheel alignment? Cheers.

What have you got at the shock end, have you fitted the distance bolt and square rubber bush, similar to the PX shock mount. When you have the front end on and your engine just check that your wheels align, they may be out a little but thats nothing to worry about. To check alignment use two pieces of wood either side of the rear wheel up to the front wheel. I have not done this conversion with the frame and forks you have but similar ones seem to be ok and have not heard of any issues with this set up, but it is worth double checking.eadmr04 wrote:The steering stops seem to work ok and I understand the ride height will be an inch higher but what issues will I have with wheel alignment? Do you have another Vespa.
Not sure which rear shock is fitted, like I say, only just about got the carb box to fit the frame. What's the best shock, if I fitted a PX one with a distance bot and rubber bush would I get better clearance on the carb box? Will check wheel alignment

Hi,
Will be encountering the same carb/frame issues on my GS150 that is currently being built. Still at the frame straightening stage but popped a scooter center engine adaptor bracket on yesterday day and the rear wheel alignment is spot on. But....I would really like to use an Si carb if possible. I guess the Super frame will differ from my GS around the engine but still interesting to see another conversion like this being done and noting any issues along the way.
I want the ride height to look 'factory' and should be able to adjust it with the PX shock spacer/adjuster (whatever it's call!) but getting an Si carb in there may prove tricky...., Gary - Have you tried this?
Cheers

You can't fit a SI carb and box unless you cut the frame, the only way it will fit, is without the carb top box but I don't know how the carb would run without the top box. I have done around seven of these conversions. I have put a PX125, T5, P2 and LML engine into a GS150 frame, the easiest to fit was the LML. With the other engines I had to build my own manifold and use a Dellorto PHBH carburettor. With the shock you need to use a 35mm distance bolt and a shock with a straight spring, not the bellow spring as it can rub against the rear wheel.

This was one I done a few years ago, the exhaust didn't really work and it had the disc front end which was ok but the front mudguard sits to high in my opinion. There are better front disc conversions out now but cost a fortune.

Sorry, seem to be hijacking the thread......!
Thanks Gary, very interesting build.........so the issue is the carb 'bowl' hitting the frame not the Si carb itself ? Would really like to stick with a standard P range carb if poss. Would use a pod type filter attached via a vortex or similar (Polini maybe). I think the "bowl" is there to keep the carb clean, wondering whether I can make some sort of cover that allows fitting......
Thanks
