Was it an easy push fit into the piston ?

mine was - pushed in by hand

Mine needed a little bit of heat on the piston and a squirt of oil to push in.
Meus Lambretta est non infractus. Is est quietus.

Should go in easy when cold, you could also drill a hole in the piston to help with lubrication

My gudgeon pin was push fit by hand and I always drill a hole each side of the gudgeon pin tunnel inside the piston
At this point I`m not blaming oil - I need to look at all the aspects
Ive got one of my ts1`s to strip after Bridlington - so we`ll see whats occurring in there - this will be a top end strip only and will be to replace the piston due to high mileage and reeds.
I wont be for a couple of weeks after brid due to other things on
