I have just received a letter in from SIP saying they are recalling all there own branded shock absorbers. This is going to be a nightmare for all concerned as some may have paid for a mechanic to fit there front shock, the rear shock not so bad. I think we should get together and ask for some sort of compensation for labour and costs of this and any other trouble this is going to cost.

Aparently the cir clip at the top of the oil chamber is faulty and is known to split and cause the shock to collapse. I actually returned my rear shock about a year ago because the main shaft through the spring had developed a crack and all I got was a 20 euro credit note. So I have added that into my email that I have sent.

I have their rear shocks on 2 of my scooters & another 'new in the box' on the shelf in me garage.

Question is what to change them for?...

BGM & YSS are excellent, you will find them in Scooter-Center. To be honest it may be a batch or when you bought them as I remember waiting about 3 months for mine last year and luckily enough it was a front PK one which I never fitted otherwise I would be kicking up hell about removing it. Also did you buy them straight from SIP or via one of there dealerships as I think trying to recall all there shocks would be a bit of a nightmare. The letter does say that if you have sold the shock or scooter on, you must try and contact them and pass the letter on to them. I emailed them straight away and have yet to receive an email back.

Surprise surprise.

Hopefully with something as serious as a product recall they might actually get their arses into gear and respond in a timely manner.

Sadly my experience of SIP's after sales care and response times have been f@@king shocking! (no pun intended).
