Almost a year to the day I had to swap my varitronic stator due to misfire and bad running, I cant believe another has gone, until a year ago I had no problems with the ignition system at all.
I don't have a spare kit for this system, so I'm going to see if I can get my old stator re-wired. I'll be in the garage today and will take a close inspection on the plug, cap, HT lead and all wire connections, all the time praying I don't have to replace another stator.
Thanks for all the help guys, I really appreciate your thoughts on this. ;) ;)

What did you set it on originally then?
To be honest Donnie I cant remember exactly.
23 or 25 rings a bell but I can remember having to open the slots up on the stator to get it to retard back to where is should have.
It just needs another looking at. ;)
Sorry to highjack your thread Dave you old cosmic lover

Look Cosmic Geezer, just sit cross legged in front of it with forefingers pressed against thumbs, eyes shut and hum a few mantras, and it'll be fine in the morning

Ahh my good looking friend, no amount of positive thinking is going to cure this one, baby. The stator is the problem. Second one to go in a year, so much for" varitronic being so much better that were stopping sales of Indian 12v systems" At least with the Injun stuff you can get replacement parts easily and cheaply. I've asked around today and you simply can not repair a Vario stator, the coils are not available and the only way around it is to spend £100 for the coil cluster (no base plate included you have to use the old one).
Rock and a hard place, buy a complete new BGM ign around £350 or spend £100 on the coil cluster and pray in a years time I'm not regretting my decision .
Lambrettas    who'd have one ;)
