How much oil are you putting in? 3% will be enough but use a fully or semi-synthetic low smoke variety. On the other hand though, some scooters do seem to smoke whatever you doDevlam wrote:.... bit worried about the amount of smoke I'm getting out the exhaust......

Thanks - was a bit worried because it wouldn't stall when I blocked the exhaust. Quite a bit of black stuff coming out of exhaust slip joints, so I've re-assembled the exhaust with copper silicon. Engine now stalls when i block the exhaust, so I think I now need just to burn off the assembly oil and play with oil mix and carb settings etc and off we go. Waiting on documents from DVLA before I can do much more.
Anyway final pics - appeciate all the advice I've had off site members. Invaluable.

And the good news toay is I got a new V5C back from DVLA. Although it was off the road for nigh on 30 years they still recognised the registration as assigned to my scooter. So change of colour, cc, address and all is good. Upwards and onwards. Thanks for the kind words.
