Small EGT and fuel gauges

Anything related to Lambrettas... ask tech questions, post helpful info, or just read and learn.

I'm looking for a EGT gauge and fuel gauge. They both need to be round and both must fit into a 14cm space. I'm going to need a 10mm space at each end and in between so I think the max size for each will need to be 55mm including bezel/surrounds. I'd like them to be analog as opposed to digital although I'm not sure you get a lot in the way of exact temps when using the sweeping hand.
I know your only really going to be abel to use as an indicator to how it would normally run but digital surely allows you to have normal running temps for around town, fast b,s and motorway blats?

would be good to hear people's views who use them as I can go both ways really.

I've been using one of these for about 3 years. The display is backlit and the needle remains steady. I think it's accurate enough tbh, a quick glance will tell you if the needle in in the right place for the riding conditions. I had the first 2 probes fail after a about 200 miles but then found a Chinese ebay supplier that sold a right angled version and that has managed a few thousand miles but it stopped working on the Euro Lambretta trip a few weeks ago....I do suspect that the gauge itself it to blame though.

As a thought I think I may go for a head sender kit, not sure what they are referred to but one that sits between the sparke plug or off a drilled fin to give decent base settings.

I have been using one of these for a couple of years and the probes seem to be the weak point. I have had a replacement part and that failed again. We must have been parted at Birth Coater as I have one of the rightangled ones on my desk that arrived yesterday

Cost the crazy price of 1p + 8 quid P&P so it wont break the bank. It looks a lot better made with the wire exit being further away from the hot end and better supported with a spring support to the braided wire. Time will tell.

Hi my long lost brother 8-) yes, that looks the same as the successful one on mine, as I said above, I think my probe is probably still ok but the gauge took on a life of its own on the Euro, the needle was flicking wildly between zero and max :shock: Got fed up with it in the end and cut the wires....must get another one soon though 8-)
