I purchased a new chrome Hi Level rear shocker off a trader at the Cleethorpes rally to fit to my AF. Basically it looked nicely made and was of the period look that I wanted and as it was 4 position adjustable, was a bit of an upgrade on the Escorts that it was to be replacing. I put it on and used it for Shipston. On it's second adjustment it was SCARY! It bounced that much that I daren't go into corners and it kept causing the centre stand to flip up and down, the bounce was that bad. I got a c spanner and adjusted it to its highest setting today and took her for a test ride. It's still awful and so soft and bouncy I daren't use it, so tomorrow I am putting the Escorts that Ray has rebushed for me back on as I know that one will be safe. Has anyone else used these and had the same problems? At first I thought it was my weight, as at 17 and a half stone, I'm not a lightweight, but having said that, no other shocker has faired so badly, even with a pillion  cheers,Speedy.

That sounds like it has lost all the oil from the shock absorber, and youve only got the spring working....

I'd be returning it pronto from where it came...

Same as above, loss of pressure and relying on spring only mate

Thanks folks. Bought brand new and was like it from the onset. Looks a lovely shocker to be honest, but is useless. If it had lost fluid, then it was faulty from new. I have no idea who it was that sold it to me, as it was a dealer at Cleethorpes that I've nevewr dealt with and probably won't remember who it is again. So it looks like I have lost me money there then.cheers,Speedy.

Surely a quality shock of this type of design at a price of £40 is expecting a little too much isn't it? :-?
