Yes Sef is correct I've used black tape to hold my gp headlamp in for bout 5 years works a treat it's never fell out it also givs the scoot a sporty look as well. Happy days

ha that's my current solution too...the other side is fine but the rattle/wine from it does my head in!

I'm operating at my normal snail like pace but I have purchased some JB weld and the appropriate drill bit to tap it out to its original size.

Before I apply the weld I'm wondering if there is anything I can do to make it easier for me to ensure the tap goes down the path of the original thread? I don't fancy placing my headstock in a vice and then trying to dot punch a mark into the weld for me to drill down

Put a small amount of grease on the tap and build up the stuff round it, let it go off and wind the tap out?

I've repaired a few of these in my time, with a method that I read about on this forum, difficult to explain, easy to do, get a 4mm pop rivet (I think) can't rememeber the exact size as I haven't done one for a while, pull out the steel rod and drill through the knackered thread and insert the ally part of the pop rivet through the back of the stub that you have drilled out, you can put a small amount of superglue on to be sure it's firm, if it sticks through the front just dremel off the bit that sticks out, then just tap the correct thread in it, when putting the ally bit in the hole you can file or dremel the wide part so that it fits nice and flush, this method works well.

get yourself some of these (Stainless Steel, Flat Head, Splined Body Rivet Nuts threaded M4) , only £2.20 a pack, open up the old threaded hole in the headset to fit em nice n snug, araldite them in place to secure.....job done.
