gearing suggestions

Folks,

I'm after gearing suggestions (front and rear sprockets) for the following set up:

LI125 (standard gearbox)
stage4 tuned indian alloy 185cc cylinder kit
ancillotti clubman exhaust
25mm PHBL dellorto with drilled standard airbox
kytronik ignition retard/advance

what sort of top speed do you get with that? and what speed is a happy cruising speed?

also, won't yours be a good bit more powerful than mine with a mugello instead of the SR cylinder? I wouldn't expect significantly more revs as we're using the same exhaust, but wouldn't yours have more torque in the higher rev ranges than mine would?

and what do you mean by early? i have a '64 series 3. Are there different ratios in the different LIs?

I run a 16 front sprocket on a Sr 190 with a ralphsaxelby clubman it's a series 2. Pulls great on hills etc. wil sit at 60 all day GPS was thinking of a 17 front but don't want to lose the grunt on hills

Early s3 li125 used same gearbox as the s2 li125 they did make a change for later li125 s3.I don,t know what top speed is ( bouncing lambretta speedo),I can keep up with most people.On the m/way I can pass trucks easily.I don,t do cruising!.it isn't a motor with good torque,but I like this set up it suits me and the way i ride.I,ve had this set up 5 years and done several thousand trouble free miles.

I ran an sr 175 on an li 125 s3 box (65) with 17t front sprocket and appropriate chain. This was with a 22 jetex and af clubman, and it was torquey enough to pull the 4.9 final drive. I have now ported the cylinder and it now runs a 28 mm delly and fresco. The gearing may be a tad tall now, so i recommend that you get a pull down tensioner to allow you to buy a new chain and 17 front sprocket and if it cant pull it or if you want shorter gearing ie you live in a hilly area or want to be quick off the mark you can just buy a 16 front sprocket without the need for a 'stretched' chain ie avoid like the plague!
This set up meansvyou dont need to change your rear sprcketvwhich is more of a faff and more pricey unless you want perfect gearing!

Isn't there a problem with early Li125 gearboxes breaking? I think one of the cogs is weak?

What's a pull down tensioner?

One like the goes over the top of the topside of the chain and pulls down to apply the tension rather than pushes up like the standard ones
