Could it be my gear ratio?

Righto, here's what I've ordered (so far!) -

GP200 Clutch Sprocket 47 tooth
Chain GP200 (ltalian) 82 Pitch
GP200 Lower Chain Guide
GP200 Drive Sprocket 18 tooth
GP200 Gear Box (SIL) 4 Gears & Cluster

Ordered from Scooter Restorations - they reckon the 47 - 18 should be fine :D

does sound like A GP150 ( ying, ying, ying , whur.) but before you spend all your money, it would be prudent to see whats in there.
back in early 80`s i bought a 200 engine from some one and it had a TV200 box in it with 17/ 46 sprockets !!
Saw something similar advertised locally not too long ago. The guy was convinced it'd do about 130mph with that set up. And everyone that said otherwise was a w@nk3r - as he'd got twenty plus years of experience with Lambrettas.
you would have to be mad to expect that sort of speed ,without a seriously powerfull and torquey motor of perhaps 45bhp plus :)

Meh.. run it in for the first 200km of the ride. You'll feel it loosen up after the first couple of hours.

If your a member of a scooter club, couldn't the members of said club have helped you to sort this issue without resorting to spending lots of money?

I don't follow, how would the members of my club be able to help the gap between 3 rd and 4th. I would always need to buy the correct gears and have them fitted. Granted, I could have paid one of the lads to rebuild my engine but I have utmost respect for Barry Turner and know that he will do a fantastic job rebuilding my engine. I am in a fantastic club with members that are always happy to help and advise :D
