Hi all, is it possible to switch a 12v supply from a battery through the ignition switch?
I have fitted a SIP Speedo for a mate. It all works perfectly but he wants to take the power supply from a battery. This obviously needs to be switched so that it isn't powered when the scooter is running.

I presume you mean "isn't powered when the engine is not running"
Short answer is yes.
Longer answer is depends on what ignition switch you have.
ScootRS do a switch that is specifically designed to have a pair of contacts for switching DC, but there is only one AC lights position (no separate position for side/main lights).
I managed to do the same with my original switch. Only problem is I have no idea what type of switch it is.

Done this with a ebay indian switch by not using the sidelight/parking part of the switch, just buzzed it out to make sure it isolated, been like it for couple of years now, saves the battery running down, it's a AC switch aswell.
