Well at least I think I'm burning fuel. I have a standard lambretta fuel tank, 8 litres I believe. From empty I put exactly 1 litre of petrol in it and got about 11km(7miles) before I ran out. So that would suggest on a full 8 litres I'd get 88km(55miles). I haven't changed anything apart from tightening the nuts that secure the exhaust u-bend to the engine. SIL 200 engine, 24 mil Dellorto PHBL Carb.

So, is that normal fuel consumption or is it excessive? I think it's a little excessive. Opinions please, and possible causes if it is excessive.

Cheers.

My sx200 rapido classic 225 top end with 26mm delorto and 48mm clubman does exactly and consistently 70 mile on a standard tank brimful before going to reserve. I haven't measured but I think reserve is 3 litres so I reckon on 70 miles to 5 litres.

My sx150 mugello 186 26mm jetex and 42 mm clubman does exactly 60 miles to same amount of fuel.

Both breathing through the airbox

So the fuel tap was set to reserve before you started the 7 mile journey?

Yep. I have a habit, be it good or bad, of just sticking it in reserve.

Hi.
My 225cc TS1 on 30mm VHSH gives me about 10 miles per litre, more if I can stick to the speed limits :-) ;)

Spanner check the running gear before every outing, like in the Army. You know it makes sense!
