Capacitor verses battery

Yes. find an electrolytic one 2200uf of around 24V. It doesn't need to be enormous but stash it some place dry and it will be fine.

This ones about the sise of an AA battery and I found some rubber tube that was a good fit. Silicon rubber sealed the ends.
I have a larger physical size one on my series 1 and to be honest its wrapped in insulation tale and cable tied to the side of my CDI hidden up under the loop above the rear mudguard.
I have 1 running DC with Battery and one with just the capacitor. I have never got mine to run DC/Wassel without one or the other. I find I only get 7 or 8 volts DC max though others say the Wassel doesn't need either. Put the Capacitor on and its 13.5VDC and charges the battery without a problem.

i was looking at a 12 v Farad capacitor ,as used in the the I.C.E industry
what gauges etc are you running of this system ?

Digital speedo, with petrol gauge EGT and idiot lights for my indicators and Pathfinder.

The main benefit is that any LED replacement lamps work as intended and are full brightness. The Cap smooths out a lot of the flicker at lower revs but its still there while on the stand.
