Is this from SIL or not?

I have problems, first to put into bearing and then to correct gearbox shim clearance.
Are SIL ones good for standard engines use?
Thanks!

Nothing wrong with genuine SIL layshafts IMHO - from experience

Haven't got one to compare but would say its not SIL - most SIL engine components are stamped or cast.

Never had any fitting issues with genuine SIL layshaft/gearboxs/back hub bearing - always been easy to shim up on assembly.

its not sil its kevler (kevlar)

just compared my kevler layshaft to italian one and the boss that goes into the end plate is shorter on the kevler hence the problem shimming up i assume you cant get a thin enough shim

they made their own version of the gp in india using a lot of parts they made themselves

i brought an indian engine that turned out to be a kevler that had had too much welding done around the main bearing and end plate so decided to just use the parts

mag housing totally diferent wont take a gp bearing

end plate all the holes are half a hole out

had not tried the layshaft yet so will have to watch out for that

also has an li 150 gear box to try looks to be the same sizes but time will tell although the splines are different on the endplate end of the xmas tree
also has an li type side case and kick start which looks like it will fit

If the stamp KOI it is indeed Kelvinator Of India,
But it looks like KPI to me.

Not a clue, sorry.

I have taken my Muggy out of it though, and the original engine is in a box of bits.

Cracking looking scooter, and very different to all the run of the mill GP, Lamby variants from India.

Please explain what is going on with the lower damper mount and the front brake arm/cam: that all looks very wrong on first appraisal...... :-/

Edit: The damper location looks more logical: but show us some details please?
