pretty sure from memory that they cost more than that trade last time I looked
heavy is good, heavy is reliable, and if it does fail, hit them with it!!!

Well I stuck a new B7 (from a different source) in this morning to come to work, started 2nd kick. Just been down and it started after a couple of kicks... go figure. I've ordered a couple of Denso plugs from a reliable source and dropped the idle jet to 48 so I'll see how it goes.

Don't rely on the plugs being correctly gapped when they arrive. Always check'um with yer feeler gauges first ;)

For the sake of posterity I may as well conclude this thread...

I re-jetted the carb last week, dropping the idle jet down to 48 and upping the atomiser to 264. I also got some Denso plugs that I've checked and set to .020".

No problem since. She now starts first or second kick with full choke and throttle closed and goes straight to tickover. Scooter's running great now and doesn't bog down so much when stopping.

A combination of a few things then...

Hurrah!

IMHO 262 atomiser + X7 needle = hole in piston. AV264/X13 may be ok. At least 50/52 pilot aprox 1.5 turns out.

It's currently X7 with 264 atomiser... as recommended and used by MB on their engine builds.

After initial build it was set up with X13 and 262 but was far too rich continually bogging and stalling and never ticking over. I ran it like this for the first 250 miles to ensure the engine was well lubricated.

If anything I'm still running a bit rich...

It would be if my gear selector (in 'typical Lambretta' fashion) hadn't completely given up the ghost! What started as a simple gear popping issue is now 3rd and 4th only, if i'm lucky!

Garaged now till I get back off my hols.
