Just looking for some advice scoot has a lot of vibration through bars at around 5000 revs gets to 45ish smooth then pulls on nice but gets hard work after a while. I'm going to check the rubber washers on legshields and check mounts is that all I can do and do I go for longer mounts? Scoot is a series 2 sr190 Japan conversion rs clubman with a 5.3 final ratio. As I say scooter pulls lovely and has plenty torque coming back from kelso yesterday after a hour or so at 50 gps felt like I'd been in a jackhammer. Thanks in advance for any help.
Ps seems worse through throttle grip

Good question it does vibrate in 3rd at those revs as well. It probably fact that it's gets too much over those revs and gets hard work to sit a nice a road cruising speed

so its engine related rather than frame/ panelwork/ hubs/ wheels etc.

Could be duff engine mounts- the short standard S2 mounts are good for keeping the "attitude" of the engine correct, but allow vibes through the bike. The longer mounts are better, generally, for not transmitting vibes but do let the engine unit move about a bit= less precise handling. Its a trade off between vibes and slightly less "better" handling.

Could be the crank out of true.

Flywheel out of balance (all fins intact?)?

My money is on the mounts- Scootopia do very good ones apparently, but I'm not sure if its the 2 or 3 hole variety which are best.

I doub't if loose bodywork would CAUSE vibration, it might rattle but the source of the vibes is going to be the engine as Bristol Mod says. Check to make sure that nothing on the engine (such as the carb) is touching the frame when you are sitting on it.

I had same problem . I checked crank (AF welded pin) whilst fitting a new top end and whilst there were no rub marks on the mag housing when i checked the run line on the bearing ring it did wander in & out abit. I put a 60 stroke crank whilst i had the barrel etc off and things improved alot. But im changing the mounts aswell . Belt n braces kind of thing.

Will check crank thanks with regards to gearing in two minds as it's so rideable with that gearing into hills and wind. A 17 sprocket would only give me 4 mph extra at 5000 revs or 400 less revs to do 61mph. I ride it work everyday with a couple of long hills soiit's a compromise. Thanks for the advice
