You will get all sorts of answers to this one and still leave you confused. But for me, i use 3% on standard engines and that's upto a stage 4 200cc. Had used as low as 2% but due to scooter peer pressure, went upto that 3%.

For tuned TS1 and other 20BHP+ kits, I use 4% and that's using cheap Exol Optima fully synthetic. And in last 3 years of using this oil and %'s quoted no bother.

Used 2% at all times years ago in the 125 days, no problems.

2% should be fine for your scooter, once mine is well run in I will go back to 2%.

My understanding is that it's the big end that's mostly at risk and why 2% might be risky in a tuned motor. I have been using a 3% mix in mine for thousands of miles, Mugello, some SE 225's and currently an Avanti 225 and TS1 and have had no lubrication issues at all. That's using either semi or fully synth (whatever is available).

I figured if I ran my scooters (except the tuned ones) on 2% in the 60's and 70's on the oil available then I could still run on it with the superior modern oils. It maybe that the synthetics are not as good as the old Filtrate and Bardol oils.

2% is not enough for a long run on a hot day. There's no margin for fluctuation in environmental conditions. Err on the side of caution and use 3%. Your engine will love you for it. ;)
