starter motor blowing fuses

Appreciate that mate, I think what I was trying to get across was that if the starter is operating normally, then the OP will have to look elsewhere for the short circuit I.e : the starter button or wiring.

I would check the wiring into the safety interlock under the horn casing, the clutch switch wiring and the starter button first.

ok thanks, the starter motor does work, it is when you release the starter button that the battery fuse blows. I guess the short could be in the starter switch or clutch switch in that case.
