My multimeter doesn't have a beep. :? But my mate who was trying to work out what was going on used his multimeter and did the continuity test.

We've done so many different configurations and tests I don’t even know what I'd what anymore. :?

I did the test today of checking each wire on the ignition with the multimeter and got nothing. I was led to believe that the ignition was no good.

Again, I know it seems like I'm kicking all this advice back, believe me I'm not. I'm really grateful for the advice, but I just can't see a way through.

If you can not find any combination in wich you have continuity between two wires at a certain position of the key, then your ignition switch must be dead. I'm doing the wassell conversion at that moment and replaced my old ignition switch for the scootRS "atomic" one and I recomend it. Really simple to work out the diferent wire combinations. It has two positions, and the wires that are joined in the first position are not mixed with the ones joined in the secon position.
Aniway, whatever ignition switch you use, I don´t recomend you to use it for isolating the battery. I think the inner contacts are not good enough for the amount of electricity thats going to run through them, so I prefer disconecting the battery via a relay activated by the ignition switch. I'm even going to run the lights through a relay. It's one of the advantages that offers the wassell rectifier and hope that it´ll help the ignition switch last longer.

That might possibly be the ignition I'm trying.

take a picture of the switch, if it's ScootRS generic type I can tell you what the continuity results should be
but it could be that the ignition is fooked, and you are fighting against the unknown...

[and I will reply to your pm from last week ;) ]

Did anyone else have to cut the loop under the sleeve of the switch?

Hi Bilko. As said before I have one of those ignitions like yhe one shown by Corrado, but don´t have the same wire colors you say...Mine are:

Position "0" joins wires black/yellow blue/white and green. Those are for killing the engine. One of them goes to earth, another to the CDI and the other remains unused and well isolated.

Position "1" joins wires black and red

Position "2" joins wires brown and yellow/white . The yelow white has two more wires atached to it: black/yellow and yellow.

Hope it can help you, though I think yours is the scootRS old version in witch the key had a plastic holder with "HONDA" written on it.

I've got a couple of different ones.
The scootrs one has 7 wires.
Green.
Red with White stripe.
Black.
Black with White stripe.
Blue [this has no bullet connector]
Brown.
Yellow, this has 2 wires piggy backing from it, 1 Yellow and 1 Black. All 3 have connectors.

The other one, possibly from Sterling has 4 wires.
Green [this is connected to a Black wire with round earth type connector]
Brown.
Black with White stripe.
Yellow, this has 2 wires piggy backing from it, 1 yellow and 1 Black with White stripe. All 3 have connectors.

Both switches have 3 positions, Off, Ignition, Lights.
