Just bought a new mrb reed block but my inlet on the casings is bigger than the block. There is no obstruction to the flow of fuel from the block to the casing but was wondering if fuel would not be transferred properly because of it.Any advice appreciated

Cheers Jeff

Jeff,

I assume that the original port has been opened up for a previous tune. No hum.

Ok, probably it won't matter too much, and there might be more risk in trying to open up the manifold to match the port. The risk is that opening up the manifold may break through into the stud holes, and opening the inlet tract may cause the speed of the incoming charge to slow as the cross-section of the inlet tract widens.

You could try filling the port in the barrel with Devcon, but even this has risks as Devcon can loosen and fall into the barrel.

I would be tempted to leave it as it is.

Yeh it was opened and matched to a different manifold,I was tempted to match the new manifold but was thinking on the same lines as you.I think it might be better to try it as it is as see how it goes.

Cheers Jeff

How much bigger is the inlet? if you have a dremel and a burr cutter you could open the manifold to match if the difference is only a few millimetres. I had to open my MB manifold up in a few places but it was well within the gasket area. Or leave as is as Knowledge suggests, the difference in performance wouldn't be great.
