just wondering what peeps recommendations are for a 12v/electronic kit for a S3 li125 ..am just getting back to the scene so need a point in the right direction for decent product etc

ok mate, just changed all mine..... I've installed a new BGM 120w Stator (AC) Sil Flywheel, BGM CDI and Regulator, I had a few problems with electrics etc so I am well pleased now, I have a 1962 Li S3 built as a Special with a 1963 engine running 200cc barrel etc, 47/18 main drive, SX150 g/b, 5plate 10 spring clutch, 42mm bigbore exhaust and dellorto phbl 22 bs etc, not even run in yet, clocked up 14mls so far, bit lumpy but starts 1st kick, ignition set at 17degrees. Seems to be running fine apart from being a bit lumpy but can't sort that out 'til run-in. People here will give you lots of helpful advice, mine is buy the best you can afford, it pays off in the long run believe me :)

thks for reply ..your advice is just what i,m after .....as i can see its a minefield of different parts for sale ..so nice to see a recommend

it's also about how much you are willing to spend. What was mentioned above is fine. But if it was mine I would add a BGM flywheel but it's costly. Then there are other complete kits such as the Varitronic, electrix or a basic kit from Scooter restorations. I would not only think about my needs now but also for the future ie will you find a Li 125 too slow and want to go faster. Food for thought I hope :-)

As for Scooter shops depends where you are but a search of these forums will give you some good answers as to the one's most recommend. Here's my twopennies worth. Scooter Restorations, MBD, Cambridge Lambretta. I use all of them and they all provide vg customer service and excellent posting times. Again all depends on what you want. I also use a very good local dealer who has now moved away from his shop and doesn't deal mail order.

Depends on your budget I suppose. I've got a standard Indian electronic system from Scooter Restorations, but with a different regulator and Ducati CDI. It's taken me around Europe with no dramas.

One thing to remember if you're getting back into scootering, is that you are running an Li type crankshaft, so will need a flywheel to suit this unless you change your crankshaft to the later and stronger Gp type.Speedy.

Ok mate..I use practically anybody :lol: got my flywheel from beedspeed, BGM stuff from mbd, Willenhall I have used previously as you say good prices, resurrection scooters, Cambridge scooters, etc I look for the same parts but at a better price, stein-denise in germany, all over, saved half the cost buying jets, atomiser etc from Germany, lots of bits from ebay where necessary, as someone has said bgm flywheel IS expensive, one piece construction but nearly £200 phew looks lovely though if you've got the cash
