So being curious as to how loud my 42mm Gori pipe is I downloaded a free app to my iPhone and placed it on the floor about half a metre behind the tail can. Started and revved the scoot. Here's the unscientific results:

Anyone else?

We should be aiming for 80db or lower for our exhausts.
It should be an MoT failure but I doubt it ever will.
TS1 and PX stay in the garage (future barn finds) out on the GTS 300 when I go out on a scooter.
I know I’ll get there and back

Looks like you could hold an average conversation over the top of it.

My 50 mm Gori was so loud I rode with ear plugs until I could stand it no more.
Sold that exhaust and fitted an NK road expansion, partially heat wrapped it and now it sounds fine.
No more ear plugs!

Spanner check the running gear before every outing, like in the Army. You know it makes sense!

I don't find it too bad, I have a 50mm Gori on my Muggy engine which I'm just about to put in my S3. I'll do the same test and post the results.

The limit for registering a new bike trike or scooter is 99db

They test at a certain level related to max power revs. Think its 75% of the revs that you develop peak hp at.

From school days memory i believe that 3db increase equates to a doubling in volume
heavy is good, heavy is reliable, and if it does fail, hit them with it!!!
