I have the BGM v2 with AF flywheel. No problems. The trigger marks on the flywheel were close but not correct. I'd think the v3 can't be that much diffrent.

I have a v3 with a medium weight AF flywheel and it works ok. But as Grumpy225 says you need to set your timing up from scratch.
What were the issues exactly?

By the sounds of it the OP has an "AF Light Flywheel," as Corrado says. Over the years, there have been many posts on several scooter forums about these. Here is just one that I found:mcbrid wrote:What were the issues exactly?

Lots of folk love them. Mine was a nightmare (it wasn't on a bgm stator though). Essentially, it broke up every time at 6100 revs. It was one of the newer ones with the spacer too. AF took it back and claimed it worked fine on Ben's scoot.
