Forgot about this
It's not my scooter, it's a mates Mugello 186, he just dropped it off at mine for new cables and asked if I'd check the timing and carb set up etc.
It had been done last year by a dealer who claims to have fitted a new AF midweight flywheel, stator etc, it was about 21 deg at tickover and went round to over 90 deg around 4000 revs plus
when I took off the flywheel and looked at the stator there's no way it's new and just looks like a poorly bodged one.
I was just wondering if anyone had seen a stator from any suppliers that had the lighting coils soldered like that and a extra black earth on it.

Soldering is a bit crap but you can never have too many earths.
Im sure there are more than one dealer who will replace a stator for one customer charge for a new one and repair the old one and sell it on to the next. I have done coil and pick up changes on my own but would only keep it as a spare.
Be interested to hear what sorts your timing shift. I have got mine down to only 10 degrees at the moment.

The picture looks better than it is, I've repaired stators and if I use them on a scooter I would charge for a refurbed stator not a new one and tell the person it's refurbed.
It was the stator causing the timing probs, it checked out ok on the multimeter but not in use, tried plug, HT lead and cdi before swapping the stator with a good spare. fitted a new Bgm stator and it's fine now.
