Thinking of changing from 107 rod to a 110. After finding my RT down on power. Advised by MB to change.
Has anyone changed and found a improvement in performance.
Or would I be better of taking barrel to a tuner.
Rather than having a full strip out to change crank.

107 rod to 110 ?
If you fitted a 110mm rod to a 58mm stroke crank the piston would be 3mm higher at TDC and 3mm higher at BTC so you need a packer plate. I'm not sure about performance improvements -- it all depends on your transfers and all important port timings. I know if you use a 110 rod on a ts1 with a packer you can make it more of a tour tune.
I posted on MB,s. face book page (RT owners)my hp after a dyno a run. MB commented on it saying its the standard length rod that is the cause of low power.
I realise I need the 3mm packer.
Just wondering if it makes more economical sense to go with the crank change or tune?.

I can't see a rod change Turning it into a much faster scoot ...unless u make other changes yes like port timings and porting ...a longer rod is good as most 110 rods are decent quality and standard Indian rods are made of cheese lol ..if mark says change the rod I would do it he knows he designed the kit ..but don't expect massive hp gains ..in my opinion ..
Thats why I'm a bit reluctant to change I already have a muzzi web and AF old race rod in it.

what power increase did MB tell you to expect from the rod length change ?
all else being equal ,the longer rod and packer can only help lower primary compression ratio ..and maybe run a little smoother .
the main advantage of the longer rod and packer is that it allows more adjustment for altering the port timings either up or down .

What port timings do you have now ?
Sean all I did was post my hp figure. As he was asking what people are running on there RT kits.
He posted straight after and said my lack of power was due to not having the longer 110 rod.
I never even questioned it.
At the moment I have a 0.75
Base packer with 1.2mm spuish.

Using the 110 rod you set them more to how you want them, shame you didn't check them with the 107 rod, still be nice to see how it comes out.boris wrote:I'm not sure of the timings Jason when I get chance I will post them.
